Artificial Owl : The Most Fascinating Abandoned Man-Made Creations
Metro Jacksonville’s article on Jacksonville’s own seemingly abandoned urban ruin, Hogan’s Creek, reminded us of the Artificial Owl website. Artificial Owl is essentially an online catalog of some of the greatest abandoned man-made structures found throughout the world. The selection range from shipwrecks, to airfields, military bases, even train stations. The site, especially the Visual Archive, definitely warrants a visit just to see the ghostly images of once important, bustling spaces and vehicles of not too long ago, now empty and decaying.

This is a great site, well, for when I lived in Rhode Island. Covered new development (look at that downtown BlueCross BlueShield Building – what a concept!) as well as urban decay, redevelopments, etc.
Somebody needs to partner up and buy that old Michigan Rail Station. Who’s with me?
If we can’t save 118 Main, I’m afraid that one may be a little out of reach.
This is the site I was talking about http://artinruins.com/
That Michigan station is awesome. The State should do something to preserve it (and I don’t mean for the purpose of housing govt offices!)
