Brady Road House is really coming along.  Plans are at engineering and we are finalizing details and specifications.  We met with the local electric authority and a LEED certifier to find out how this home is going to rate energy and sustainability wise.  It looks like we will definitely be certifying it Energy Star and through the  Florida Green Building Coalition.  The LEED certifier thinks we will be close to Gold once we are done.  This is something we will continue to look at.

To keep everyone informed, here are some of the materials and methods we plan on using for the construction.

Wall panels and one story roof panels – R-Control SIP’s (Structural Insulated Panels)

Garage doors – Clopay Avante

Window – Marvin Ultimate

Stair well windows – Kawneer curtain wall

Siding – James Hardi

Kitchen Cabinets – IKEA

Roofing – thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO)

Heating/Cooling system – Not specified

More information will follow as it become available…..

To say I’m impressed, as always, is an understatement. Out of all the firms that I try to follow in this city you guys seem to have a corner on Good, Clean, Affordable Modern design/Architecture. I mean, look at the floor plan: I count 3 bedrooms, 2 bath. It’s not a huge house, but it’s got what you need without all the wasted space of the typical McMansions you find in Ponte Vedra and the Southside. Two years ago I was involved with a project for HabiJax and we sat in on some focus group meetings where they brought in average homeowners and asked them questions about how they felt about photos of different homes and material choices. The overwhelming majority of those people (about 100%) were completely out of their minds. It shows you that most people are very uneducated when it comes to what is possible on a budget in today’s architectural world. But with a few more of these going up in Jacksonville, I bet people will wake up real quick.
    Great work guys.

Thanks Jeremiah for the kudos. This is a budget crunching case study and we are really excited to be a part of it. We are hoping to do some on site videos once the construction starts so keep you eyes open for future posts.
