green bungalows

The green bungalow concept was derived from a project we did for Riverside Avondale Development Organization (RADO).  The property is actually located at the end of Green Street in Riverside, so the name Green On Green became the tag line.  Because the project was technically located in the historic district of Riverside / Avondale (Right on the edge), it was important that the design met the National Guidelines for Historic Preservation and they did.  Ten single family homes were designed in various sizes to meet the needs for basic work force housing.  Although the basic needs were met, the designs were anything but basic meeting Florida Green Certification and Energy Star guidelines.  These homes would not only be beautiful to live in, but also affordable in cost and energy consumption.  The Green on Green neighborhood also included community gardens and compost in an effort to get neighbors to interact, while being “Green”.   Unfortunately this project was never built, but because we feel like it would have been a viable addition to the community, we continue to hold out hope.
