Hoping for mass production…
We’re just now seeing the D/A Clock designed by RISD BFA student Alvin Aronson. It’s a beautiful take on the LCD style clock, allowing the segmented numbers to come to life mechanically instead of digitally. The numbers slowly rise and fall as the minutes go by….
Alvin’s description:
“This object plays on the common LED-display digital clock with physical segments that slowly fade in and out of a white surface. The D/A Clock introduces new characteristics to the digital mediation of time: a physical dimension and intermediate states – the time between 0 and 1.”
The piece is made of corian and wood and slated for a limited production run in the near future.
