Peel P50

Submitted by jason on March 26, 2009 – 3:21 pmNo Comment

With recent imports to the United States of the Smart Car and the Mini Cooper, I wonder if we’ll see anything quite as small as the P50, built in the early 1960’s by The Peel Engineering Company, on the road here.  The 4′-5″ long, 3′-3″ wide, 3′-5″ high car weighed in at 131 lbs and retailed for about 150 British pounds.  Regardless if you think that this size car would be marketable in today’s market or not, I think you’ll enjoy the video of Top Gear’s (which by the way is a fantastic car show on BBC for those who do not already know) Jeremy Clarkson taking the P50 into work.  And I mean “into” work.

So, did Jeremy actually see, as he states in the video, “the future, and it comes from 1963?”
