the urban facelift project #14 (405 w beaver street) and the friday video

Submitted by jason on June 4, 2010 – 2:21 pm3 Comments

For this facelift we asked our Urban Facelift Project fans on facebook what they would like to see 405 W Beaver Street become.  (click here for a map of 405 Beaver Street)  If you would like to join our UFP facebook page, sorry, like our UFP facebook page and help choose future UFP outcomes you can do so here.  Seems like everyone wanted to see this building, which I assume is an old auto service shop, become a restaurant….so who are we to argue.

Before:

After:

As you can see we’ve created a little taco place, complete with exterior seating and a small to go window on the pearl street side.  The “garage” side of the building is cover in painted cement board, giving a nice modern treatment to the design, which is then warmed up a bit by the wooden pergola supported by 6 poured in place concrete columns.  The entry and to-go area also incorporates the wood and concrete, with the wood being used as a siding material and the concrete used as the knee wall and the to-go area exterior counters.  We’ve also added 3 loll 3 slat Adirondack chairs for people waiting on their orders.  We promise not to take as long for the next UFP…

Also, it is time for the Friday video:

We came across this video from Core77 and are very impressed with the Italian-designed space saving furniture by Resource Furniture. Watch Ron Barth, President of Resource Furniture explain more in the video below:
